Cruise & Maritime Services International Ltd (the parent company of Cruise & Maritime Voyages) was formed in 2009 after the German Transocean Tours (for whom they were the UK representative) filed for bankruptcy. It is an independent company that specialises in providing good value, quality cruise holidays on board smaller and medium size cruise ships. The emphasis is on offering the discerning traveler a more classic maritime experience within a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and exceptional value ex-UK ‘no fly’, traditional cruises. The main target of the cruise line is the UK market plus English speaking lovers of traditional cruise ships from the United States, Australia, Canada and South Africa.

The first ship in the fleet was the legendary MS Marco Polo of Orient Lines (originaly built as Aleksandr Pushkin in the Soviet Union). In April 2010, the refitted Ocean Countess joined MS Marco Polo. In 2019 MS Ocean Countess left the Cruise & Maritime Voyages fleet to be replaced by MV Discovery (ex-Island Princess of Princess Cruises) until October 2014 when she was also sold for scrap. The current flagship of the fleet is MS Magellan, ex-Holiday of Carnival Cruise Line and Grand Hodiday of Iberocruceros, which is sailing currently out of London Tilbury, Newcastle and Dundee.
