Easy Cruise was founded in 2005 by Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou (a Greek/British businessman, who also founded in 1995 Easy Jet - one of the leading low-cost airlines in Europe). The concept of Easy Cruise follows very much the such of Easy Jet - offering the minimum of amenities and adding value by charging separately for each service aboard, which allows for cheap advertised prices. The idea comes to attracting younger customers on a lower budget, who wish to spend the majority of their time on shore rather than on board a mega cruise ship. In summer 2009 easyCruise was acquired by the Greek ferry operattor Hellenic Seaways. The cruise market is part of the new investment plans of Hellenic Seaways and marks their entrance to the cruising business. Easy Cruise operated one cruise ship - EasyCruise Life on Aegean/Mediterranean routes out of Piraeus (Athens) - Greece and Kusadasi - Turkey.

In August 2009 the single-ship cruise line was sold to Greek ferry operator Hellenic Seaways for £9 million. EasyCruise's operations were quietly discontinued sometime in early 2010. Passengers who were booked on future cruises were refunded.
