Chief Refrigeration / HVAC Engineer Job Description and Duties:


Criuse ship refrigeration engineer

- Oversees and supervises the operation, maintenance and repair of the ship's HVAC equipment/ system, domestic refrigeration plant, ventilation, cooling, freezing, provision equipment, all air conditioning throughout the vessel plus ice skating arena equipment (available on some ships)

- Reports to the ship's Staff Engineer and Chief Engineer and is in charge of maintenance and repair of the engine room and galley ventilation systems, multi-flow beverage machines, mini-bar units and ice making machines

- Responsible for duties distribution and training of subordinate refrigeration engineers

- Checks and ensures that all environmental systems within the department are operated and maintained up to cruise line's standard and international regulations

- Ensures that subordinate refrigeration personnel are aware of the cruise line's health, environmental, safety and security policies, as they apply to their positions



Chief Refrigeration / HVAC Engineer Job Requirements:

  • National diploma or certificate for Refrigeration Engineer / Technician

  • Minimum of 3 years working experience required (experience as refrigeration engineer on cruise ship preferred)

  • Computer literacy and very good verbal and written command of the English language

  • Must have STCW 95 Certification


Chief Refrigeration / HVAC Engineer Salary Range:


$6500 - 8500 U.S. per month and up depending on the cruise line and time served with the company.
