Major incident with the cruise ship Viking Sun, Viking Cruises. Off the coast of Norway on March 23, 2019. 473 passengers airlifted by helicopters. Tag boats managed to tow the the ship to the Norwegian port of Molde. All passengers and crew are safe.

The ship lost power of the engies in 25 foot high waves during a storm off the coast of Norway.  The crew threw out anchor to prevent the ship from smashing into the coastal rocks. 473 passengers (out of 1,373 onboard) were evacuated by helicopters.

Since the ship does not have a helipad, the choppers were slowly winching people up one-by-one. On Sunday tag boats managed to tow the ship to safety in the Norwegian port of Molde with the remaining passengers and crew.

The good news is that all passengers and crew of Viking Sky are safe.
