1st Officer - NavigatorDescription: Reports to: Master or his Deputy (Staff Captain) Responsible for 1st watch (04-08 / 16-20) which normally includes majority of arrivals / departures The 1st Officer Navigator must have the ability to meet the following requirements: Planning the cruise and prepare the end of cruise reports Responsible for maintaining the hydrograph including chart’s correction Responsible for the weekly notice to Mariner’s and nautical publications Updating the Bridge library Keeping maintenance records for all Bridge navigational equipment Monitoring status of navigational equipment, navigational lights, proper storage of standard signalling and other emergency signalling located / being part of the Bridge Supervising possible maintenance of LSA and FFA equipment, according to Staff Captain’s instruction Ensuring Bridge operations in regards of emergency equipment testing (i.e. watertight doors, detection panels, etc) Assisting Safety and/or Security Officer in related crew training, if required Attending safety drills as required by SMS Familiarizing with the SMS – Safety Management System and Company policies and procedures Familiarizing with ship’s stability in order to eventually assist the Staff Captain in this duty Education / Experience Valid STCW 95 Certifications Appropriate licences and certificates as required by regulations Extensive experience in similar or subordinate position on board ships and up to date experience of all current navigational electronics and computerized equipment Fluent in English (verbal and written) Physically and medically fit Moral integrity required Public Health, Sanitation and Environmental training courses are appreciated Requirements: Apply |
