Staff Chief Engineer
The Staff Chief Engineer is the second highest-ranked officer in the engineering department who must be fully conversant with all of the Chief Engineers responsibilities and must be able to assume the position of the Chief Engineer if needed.<br />
In charge of the day-to-day overall operation of the technical plant. Familiar with Chief Engineer’s functions in order to be qualified to relieve him. Assist the Chief Engineer and keep him informed of significant events and trends pertaining to the operation of the Engine Department, the welfare and discipline of the department personnel. Ensure correct and prompt execution of the Chief Engineer’s orders and submission of required reports
Familiar with and active in the Safety Management System including his responsibilities in the Safety Organization according to the Emergency Plan and Station Bill. Serves as the primary contact for all technical services required by guests and/or hotel department. Utilized the resources of the ships engineering department to resolve same. The Staff Chief Engineer is responsible for the maintenance as follows: All Fixed firefighting and sprinkler equipment All systems relating to the vessels safety and watertight integrity, including WTD, shell doors, lifeboats, tender boats, liferafts, marina equipment and launching equipment.
All technical matters relating to USPH. All Hotel technical services, including pools, spas and galley/laundry equipment. All deck machinery. Shall ensure that safety measures are taken to protect personnel and Property. Shall assist the Chief Engineer with instruction and training of the engineering personnel. Assist the Chief Engineer with the department budget proposal. Write a hand over report for your relief.
Be familiar with Seabourn Health, Environmental, Safety and Security Policy and the SMS2008, and carry out the policies and procedures as appropriate to their position (Also his responsibilities in the Safety organization according to the Emergency plan and station bill). Responsible for ensuring that personnel under his supervision are aware of Seabourn Health, Environmental , Safety and Security Policy and the SMS2008, as it apply to their positions.
The Staff Chief Engineer is responsible for the AMOS system for the technical hotel department and shall keep a close cooperation with the Technical Store Keeper and the Chief Engineer. He is responsible for the technical hotel stores, parts and supplies, inventory control and purchase requisitions. He shall work closely with the Chief Engineer to ensure that the expenditures are within the limits of the approved budget.
