Maitre D’Hotel


Reporting to the Hotel Manager, as Maitre D’Hotel, you will be responsible for the overall supervision of the ship’s service and beverage operations in the Restaurant and Veranda Café. Your responsibilities also include room service, bars, public rooms and desk service supervision. You will ensure that the service delivered exceeds guest’s expectations and you will also need to maintain a positive atmosphere throughout the Food & Beverage department.

You will also be required to hold daily meetings with the Chef de Cuisine to discuss passenger comments and submit any special guest requests. Ensuring that Waiters and Assistant Maitre D’s are fully trained is also part of your remit.

You will need to possess a diploma from a recognised UK/European hotel school or university or equivalent as well as substantial experience in a supervisory position on board a 5 star vessel. Human Resources training is also required combined with knowledge of basic budgeting techniques and financial analysis. You’ll also have a good command of English, with excellent verbal and written communication.
