Compliance Officer


The Compliance Officer will manage and improve the shipboard injury prevention programs, OPP and USPH compliance. The Compliance Officer will also, establish a safe shipboard environment, while providing active monitoring and analysis for injury and outbreak related incidents on board the vessels.

Career snapshot:

• Develops and conducts shipboard training programs and leads cross departmental groups to perform root cause analysis

• Manages the injury investigation process by formulating and executing action plans from investigations including, “lessons learned” training

• Leads operational safety meetings and provides expertise and guidance to ensure company policies and procedures, maintain high standards for injury prevention

• Manages sick and PVI lists with the medical facility, guest services and housekeeping to ensure isolation times are compiled and are in compliance with the USPH/Public Health documentation and reports

• Works with the shipboard leadership in implementing the required procedures and execution in the event of an outbreak in accordance with the company’s OPP


• Bachelors degree

• Minimum of 5 years cruise ship, maritime, or industrial/public safety experience with primary responsibilities in training, implementation and administration of safety systems and procedures

• Knowledge of basic industrial hygiene

• Proficiency in English is required to understand and interpret procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors, and co-workers

• Working knowledge of Excel, Word, Microsoft Office and other related programs

• All international applicants must have the ability to obtain C1/D visa (and other relevant visas) when applicable

• Must meet all physical requirements, including the ability to participate in emergency life-saving drills and required training


• USPH Certification

• Shipboard experience

• Understanding of United States Public Health and outbreak prevention, management and response procedures
