Description:

Assist with monitoring and operating all water-based recreation spaces, including opening and closing, monitoring safety and volume of the Donald’s/Goofy’s pool, AquaDunk/AquaDuck waterslide, Twist n Spout/Mickey’s slide and pools, Nephew’s/Nemo’s Reef, AquaLab and general activity around pool areas
Assist with monitoring and operating all shipboard recreation spaces including Goofy’s/Wide World of Sports deck, ping pong, shuffleboard, foosball, mini golf, sports simulators, etc.; set up and verify supplies and equipment are available during operating hours; replenish, clean and maintain as needed
Monitor the integrity of shipboard adult-only areas, such as Quiet Cove Pool area; assist in minimizing the volume of children congregating around the ship; interact with guests and provide any directions/guest service assistance
Assist the Port Adventures team as directed, based on skills and performance; this will include, but is not limited to dispatching tours (report feedback), operating the Port Adventures desk and processing, stuffing and delivering pre-booked tickets
Ensure the well-being of our guests, keeping pool areas clean, answering guest questions, enforcing policies, rules and regulations of Recreation locations
Be fully qualified as a licensed lifeguard; participate in regular trainings, including but not limited to, in-service training, re-certification, Castaway Cay training, etc.
Monitor radio communication with Port Adventures Manager and other areas; communicate with the Bridge on the radio in emergency situations
Conduct bookings and sales of golf and sports simulators (Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy)
Assist with Castaway Cay duties, including Marge’s Barge’s sales and dispatch operation, island opening and closing duties, rental of recreational equipment including bikes, float mats, tubes, snorkel equipment, and boats; provide instruction to guests in the operation of rental boats and the use of snorkel equipment
Maintain adequate supplies for daily operation and confirm operation’s show readiness, adhering to all VSP guidelines
Entertain and conduct sport-related games and activities
Perform Greeter or Host duties as directed
Execute additional job responsibilities, as assigned by DCL leadership, based on operational need
Comply with all company set policies and procedures, along with all maritime and ship rules, regulations and procedures
Participate in Emergency Duties as specified in the ship Assembly Plan

Requirements:

Minimum two years recent work experience in a lifeguard capacity, in a pool setting; high volume environment
Ability to pass a pre-hire swim test and successfully complete lifeguard training (conducted upon arrival in Orlando, Florida); certification requirements must also be maintained throughout contract
High level of fitness including strong swimming abilities
Good computer skills and operational knowledge
Be at least 21 years of age
Be able to speak, read and write fluent English
Willingness to live and work onboard one of our vessels for a certain length of time (based on position)
Be able to work a seven-day, 70-84 hour week with limited time off
Be able to adhere to Disney Cruise Line appearance guidelines
Agree to share a cabin with other crew members
Enjoy working in a high-volume, fast-paced, guest-service oriented environment
Be flexible with your work schedule, job duties and work locations
Appreciate diversity among guests and crew

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a lifeguard capacity in an open water setting a plus
Previous experience with boats, snorkel equipment, or other recreational equipment a plus

Applicants must:

Be genuinely interested in a career at sea and willing to live and work onboard a Disney Cruise Line vessel
Be committed to the position you are applying for at least 2-3 contracts before a transfer or promotion
Be willing to follow and perform safety role, emergency duties and/or associated responsibilities as specified in the ship Assembly Plan
Be willing and able to uphold the general safety management responsibilities specified in the Safety Management System in areas and operations under their control
Be willing to follow and embrace United States Public Health requirements and guidelines as well as Environmentality requirements and Company practices
Be willing to share a cabin with other crew members and appreciative of working and living in a multi-cultural environment
Be comfortable living in a confined space with strict rules and regulations
Adhere to a structured lifestyle, personally and professionally
Your Responsibilities:

Have a valid passport and C1/D Seaman's visa (DCL will provide you with documents to obtain this)
Complete a pre-employment medical
Obtain a criminal background check
Bring approved work shoes

All new hires are required to undergo drug/alcohol testing within the first week onboard and throughout their contracts. Failure to pass the drug/alcohol testing will result in immediate termination.
