Assistant Sommelier




Description:

Making a key contribution to the whole tone of the cruise experience, you’ll be responsible for the service and sales of wine and beverages in the restaurant, veranda café and, at certain times, the main show lounge. Providing prompt, attentive and courteous service backed by expert recommendations, you’ll work closely with the Sommelier to promote and maximise sales, including the Seabourn Vintage program. Your position ensure that all drinks are correctly garnished and served at the correct temperature and that the restaurant or café is properly set. You’ll also help to maintain standards of upkeep and cleanliness, as well as assisting with the control of stock.

Requirements:

The most important characteristic will naturally be your knowledge of old and new world wines: how best to describe, recommend and serve them. Educated to diploma/degree level, you’ll have worked as a Sommelier in a fast-paced 4 or 5 star establishment, catering to an international clientele.

Your experience will cover premium and super premium wines and other beverages, with practical knowledge of operations, procedures and regulations. With cruise jobs, you’ll have the ability to convince, inspire and where appropriate to up-sell, working in a team that’s focused both on generating revenue and exceeding guest expectations.

A strong command of English is essential, with good written and verbal communication.
