Senior Accountant




Description:

Reporting to the Manager of Financial Reporting, this position will play an integral role in the Carnival Cruise Line’s monthly, quarterly and annual reporting process. This individual will also be a key contributor to the growth of the Finance department by providing a strong professional presence and superior financial accounting, analysis and reporting expertise.

Responsibilities Include:

Prepare monthly account analysis of balance sheet and income statement accounts.
Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules according to month-end close schedule.
Analyze financial statements monthly and report on variances. Analyze revenues and expenses and ensure proper monthly recording.
Perform account and balance sheet reconciliations. Perform forecasting, variance analysis and internal financial reporting and analysis.
Analyze financial information detailing assets/liabilities and prepare balance sheet, profit and loss statement and related reports to summarize and interpret company’s financial position for management.
Prepare schedules and variance explanations to budgets/forecasts during internal and external audit reviews.
Automate accounting processes such as port fees, quasi-government fees, fuel, repairs and maintenance for vessel dry dock procedures.
Research and document supporting schedules and analysis for quarterly and year-end deliverables.
Recommend and implement initiatives for streamlining month-end, quarterly and annual close process and automation. Assist in the modification of accounting systems and accounting control procedures.
Participate in and assist with special projects.
Perform other job related functions as assigned.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field of study; or any equivalent combination of background, skills and experience. CPA designation preferred.
Minimum 3-4 years of experience working in public or private accounting. Experience with full-cycle accounting, month-end closing and variance analysis.
Strong understanding of accounting theory, GAAP and the ability to apply the concepts to specific situations.
Knowledge of or ability to learn Oracle Financials or other related financial software.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced-level skills in Excel.
Strong analytical and auditing skills with the ability to research and reconcile difficult accounts.
Ability to work collaboratively with all levels to maximize results.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to use creative approaches to challenges. Solutions-oriented problem solving skills. Ability to operate independently with minimal daily direction to accomplish objectives.
Ability to demonstrate flexibility and embrace change in a dynamic environment.
Ability to prioritize workloads and meet tight deadlines. Uncompromising personal integrity, as well as a high level of respect for all individuals.
